Rinse and Repeat

by Alex Penuelas   May 8, 2017

Wake up,
Dress up,
Drink some caffeine
As if it's your bodily makeup.

Get in the car,
You know work's far,
You gotta go before
The sun replaces the stars.

Stay there,
Nine to five,
As another member
Of the city's beehive.

Lunch hits,
You eat your cheese-its,
You mingle with your coworkers
About meaningless bits.

Clock in,
Go for a spin,
As you wait until Friday
To get that check, you win!

No go on and
Enjoy your day off
With the same friends you see
Every Saturday.

As you go to the
Same places,
Talk about the same stuff,
And gloat that these days
That you are with them
Are much different than
When you are at work.

Then Sunday hits,
You realize that this is it,
Your week is over
And tomorrow you're back at it.

You go take a shower,
Brush your teeth at the sink,
Then you look at yourself and say
"Rinse, repeat."
