Old L.A. Zoo

by Alex Penuelas   Jul 4, 2017

I remember the zoo fondly
When I was a little boy,
And I marvelled at the
Magnificent creatures that were found within.

The zoo I would
Previously go to
Is located in Griffith Park,
A place where,
Many a time,
My family and I would
Go to visit.

We used to play
A lot near the carousel,
Located just a
Half mile away from the
Greek theatre.

Little did I know
That the park that I was playing at
Used to be the eating grounds
Of an older L.A. zoo.

This zoo was abandoned for decades
Ever since the new one was built,
And it is the coolest kind of
Urban exploration that
You can possibly do if
You are in the
Griffith Park area.

Although the ruins of the
Once great zoo
Were, at some point,
Closed to the public,
That did not stop
Urban explorers from
Opening up this
Ancient world to the
21st century.

If you dare,
You can enter a forgotten world,
And go right inside where
The animals were
Kept in captivity,
Even into old canopies
That stoners use to
Smoke weed.

Not bad for a mini hike either,
As it is only a
Couple yards away
From the nearest
Parking lot.

All in All,
It's all in good fun.

I may do some more
Urban adventuring
In the near future.

Sounds fun, Alex! And it's fun reading your old memories at the zoo, too.
