Doing Good for Goodness Sale [Alternate Version/Personal Story]

by Alex Penuelas   Aug 18, 2017

Now not a lot of
People know this about me,
But I run an organization that
Helps out the homeless in the
Greater Los Angeles area.

We do monthly giveaways for the homeless,
Providing them food, water,
Clothing, toiletries,
and any other knick nacks
That they need.

And,
at the end of every giveaway,
I like to take photos of all that
we have accomplished on that day,
And share our results on social media.

I have, since the get go,
Received lots of criticism from my peers,
Accusing me of exploiting the
Positive actions I am doing for the community
In order to receive some sort of
Public appraisal from my friends.

Which is far from the truth.

I made those posts not for approval,
but rather to show to people
that I practice what I preach
(I hate that I had to use that analogy, but you get the picture).

And to show to others
that if I,
a broke college student,
can go and do positive things in the community,
then I hope that I can
inspire other people to do the same.

Which is PRECISELY why I post up the results.

And I am well aware
that I cannot do
all of the things that I do
without outside help.

It is thanks to my friends,
(both near and far,)
my family members,
and through anonymous donations, thanks to the kindness of strangers,
that I have been able to make a voice for,
not just myself,
but for others who have not had
the opportunity to do so themselves.

As such,
I thank everyone who has helped me
to get to the point where I am today,
such that I can now
reach out to more people
than I have ever been able to do
some couple years ago.

So we should
might as well
share some postivity.

We are all in this together,
and it's truly amazing
how much we can accomplish
if we love and cherish one another,
and to encourage others to do the same.
