Slow Down

by Kasie   Oct 13, 2017

Time seems like it's flying,
You're growing up so fast.
Please slow down, my darling,
Because I want this time to last.

It seems like it was yesterday,
You were laid within my arms.
I promised to protect you,
And to keep you away from harm.

You're the joy within my heart,
You make my life complete.
Your laugh, your smile, your love,
There's nothing that can compete.

The clock is forever ticking,
You're learning more each day.
Soon you'll do things without me,
I promise I won't stand in your way.

Time seems like it's flying,
You're growing up so fast.
Please slow down, my darling,
Because I want this time to last.

A short piece, but a great meaning; the time flies by and as much as it hurts, there comes a point where all you can do is watch what you've made flourish and fly away.

    Great job Kasie,

Kasie, I totally understand this. My "babies" are both in their 20's with babies of their own that are growing too fast for them. It's hard to see them go out on their own, you just want to hold on tight. This really is a sweet write . Enjoy your baby!

Thank you, I definitely want to hold on tight. Just have to enjoy this time while it last. My baby will be starting school next year.

Kasie, I can relate perfectly to this one. I have three - the oldest is now 11 and I simply can't believe where the time has gone. But as you point out, we have to move aside, not stand in their way and let nature take it's course or risk resentment in the long run. Not easy though, is it?

    Take care,

    Ben

It's definitely not easy having to let them do things on their own. My son is 4 and he is trying to do everything own his own that I use to help him do. But I want to raise him to be independent, so I just have to step aside and let him figure some things out for his self.

      Thank you
