Loud Silence

by Brise   Nov 16, 2017

This smattering of secrets between us
Is gnawing at our burrowed silence.
It exists there, lingering upon soft lips
Hiding behind 'sorries' in defiance.

I speak to you without sound, and sometimes
you hear my inner whispers,
the tendrils of these secrets we keep between us
Suffocating us to whimpers.

Speak up, I can’t hear you,
I’m drowned by our incessant noises.
Our mistakes are screaming,
Crowded by all the loud poisons.

We forge a smile nonetheless,
And once again our silence gets crowded,
Of words devoid of voice
of silent secrets that were once shouted
