Ghost Spaces

by Once an Angel   Dec 31, 2017

They echo
with your face,
your voice,
your corny laugh,
and sobbing cries.
How they ring
with you.
My you.
Our us.

These spaces
where you and I
spent time as one,
still sing dusty songs -
a duet with harmony lost,
tales of old goings on,
an encore with
banal tales of gone.

Imprinted by memory
these ghost spaces -
a painting with the color dull,
pale and cracked with time,
covered too soon
by someone who isn't you,
replacing the echo
for which I long.

Because you,
dear you,
have flown from here.
Flown to lands
I've never known
and cannot reach.
Left behind in ghost spaces,
empty and refilling places,
I'm lost inside the haunting
of the echo
of you.
