In the dark

In darkness we can often be found
crying inside but making no sound
the emptiness we feel inside
can cause us to want to run and hide

but you must know, your not alone
even when your scared to answer your phone
when you want to sleep your day away
instead of going out with your friends to play

the feeling can be so strong
feeling like you don't belong
feeling like its best to disappear
it can make so many things unclear

but it is true when I say your not alone
nothing in life is written in stone
our lives tend to be more like clay
we mold a little every day

I write all this just to say
I am here for you every day
even when you don't want to go out and play
I will make you smile and attempt to take your pain away.

    Beautiful and gentle reminder that we are not alone. I like how you validate how strong this feeling can be. When I was at my lowest, I remember feeling shame for my depression, though it wasn't my fault. I remember thinking others would judge me and say "oh, you don't have it that bad". Sometimes, we need someone to just be there, present, and listen to us in the good and bad.
