The wake

by Michael   Jan 18, 2019

They were all there;
so many faces and,
at such short notice

strange, as I never
invited anyone.

-word of mouth I guess

for once I didn’t
carry the weight
on my shoulders

-i felt a few others did though.

I felt so proud,
as everyone sang
my praises

I wanted to say
something, but
I kept a lid on it

Imagine,
the look on their faces!

if I did.

I had to laugh our loud at this! I was definitely expecting a more somber piece so this caught me off guard but as always, your voice is unique and quite distinct throughout. Thanks for the humor!
