They Say

by Anne Moore   Apr 5, 2019

I breathe in, I breathe out
I breathe in, I breathe out
I peer out my certain
The moon greets me
Then a star or two decide to say “Hello” too
Shoot for the moon, they say
If you miss you’ll land among the stars, they say
But will I?
Cause they also say the past repeats itself
And my past is littered with failure
What if I can’t even make it out of the atmosphere?
And if I do?
Even more could go wrong
What if I lose my way?
What if I get myself sucked into a black hole?
What if?
They cut me off
So what?
We’ll get you out, we’ll help, they say
But will you?
What if i get you sucked into the black hole too?
Who will save us?
They cut me off again
Don’t worry so much, they say
We’ll figure it out as we go, they say
What if I don’t to wing it?
Huh?
How do you just wing it?
Every time I’ve ever tried things just become a bigger mess-
A bigger black hole
And sometimes I think about letting go
But I hold fast cause what is failing if you don’t at least try?
That's the spirit, They say
Just hold tight, Don’t worry, and we’ll save you
That's what they say
But is it true
