Ballad of the Neighborhood Picnic

by Larry Chamberlin   Apr 12, 2019

Picnics were made for rain
I’ll put it into this ballad
much less weight to gain
when eating chicken salad
we don’t need champagne
to make the party valid.

No ants anywhere in sight,
they’re all washed away
no bugs at all to bite
no mosquitoes here today
clouds may block the light
but we’ll just sing and play

Though the showers spray
and rain on our parade
it can’t make us melancholic
we’re happy just to frolic.

Superb...brings back many happy memories. There's something very special about eating outside whatever the weather. Milly x
