Tears

by Domenico Sottile   Jan 1, 2020

Tears

Long tears fall on the earth
as we celebrate Jesus' birth
Sunshine will appear
as women and men
subside their smear
Long tears fall on New Year’s Eve
sunshine shall return
with the love we’ll receive

Why do we take lives
each one of us is somebody’s son
no matter what land we live on
Each one of us is somebody’s daughter
on this earth in any corner
Why do we take lives
each one of us is somebody’ brother
each one of us is somebody’ sister
We are all human
just like you and the other one
Each one of us is somebody’s wife
and eager to give life
Each one of us is somebody’s husband
on each corner of any land
Why do we live with pretenses
and take all them chances
We are all human
just like you and the other one
Why do we take lives
each one of us is somebody’s mom
or somebody’s dad
Our tears ought to be shed
only because we are so glad

A necessary, emotional reminder to remember our humanity - that we are all connected in this, yet there is still loss and choices made that forever change families.

Such grief in this, yet a call to realize how sacred life is.

    Keep writing!
