Vers Libre

by Koan   Jan 5, 2020

So tell me, is it really a crime

If I do not wish to rhyme?

Vers Libre is the style I write

With syllables smart and polite

Yet they flow smooth and proud

Igniting your heart to beat loud

And if you care to cry or dance

Just give my stanzas a chance

Believe me, they will lead as you read

Now close your eyes and proceed...

Great rhythm and I like how you're teasing the reader. I think my biggest enjoyment came from the latter ... How you are kind of saying that not all poetry has to rhyme then you proceed to rhyme throughout the whole poem. Thought it was cheeky in a good way.

I wrote this because I was told many times that a poem has to rhyme... I guess this was a fun way of telling that I can.. lol
