That's Not What Life is About

by Glenn G   Jan 13, 2020

I must leave this world, you see
Thanks for being a friend to me
My love for you will always be
With you through all eternity

I fell in love with you
At first sight
A love so true
And a love so right
You took my nights
And you gave them light

Now I may be leaving
But I'll never be gone
If you keep believing
Our love was strong
I'll be watching over you
In everything you do

Heavens calling
From those pearly gates
No use in stalling
Because God don't wait

Kiss me and hold me just one last time
Always remember your love was mine
Hold me closely, this is our last date
As you feel the last breath I take

Now don't be sad and don't be mad
Just remember all the good times we had
My soul will be with you, but I'll be pain free
My love growing through you like the roots of tree
I'm sorry my love that I have to leave
I hope that God will give you hope and peace
And ask that you never forget me

When my eyes close as my life goes away
Shed no tears, as you say goodbye
Tomorrow's just another day

We never married, but you'll always be my wife
So wake up tomorrow and live your life
Don't let the sadness turn you inside out
That's not what life is about

A terribly sad poem, Glenn, but one that flows and rhymes beautifully. I really enjoyed this one.

    All the very best
