Call to arms

by Obscure   Jan 28, 2020

A silent sentry holds his guard
Deserted by his fellow stars
Alone he shines both night and day
It seems as if he'll always stay
He watches sadly o'er the earth
Which smolders dark and thick and bleak
He softly calls for men of worth
To rise and silence earth's harsh shriek
To smother all the fires of hell
And cleanse the seas on which they sail
For we must work hard, long, and well
To overcome where others fail
