Shapeshifter

by Glenn G   Jan 29, 2020

I long for the days of my youth, where you were pretty sure each new day would be better than the next.
I long for the peace I once had
I long for the dreams I had for us when the kids got grown and I retired
I crave someone to love me as much as my dog
If only I could shapeshift myself into a tablet and close the lid
I could be sure I was loved at least 3 times a day, not for just one month, but every month
I could fight for you if it were a man, I could tell you he was too fat, too skinny, too stupid or too ugly
I don't know how to fight a tablet since it cannot listen and seems to fulfill your every need
I guess it's like any lost love, I have to say I fought the good fight but lost to a much stronger foe.
