It's Too Late Now

When are people going to learn
Before it is too late
When are people going to realize
That a phone can wait

You think that you are so immune
Will never reach that toll
Convinced yourself that it won't happen
You're always under control

And this was an important message
You waited for all day
This was from someone special
With all she had to say

Looking straight up when you read it
With a smile from what she sent
Instant reactions then take over
Swerving to avoid a dent

You're quite impressed with your skill
Missing that parked car
Looking back the rear window
You're best escape by far

It's now that you hear a thud
And confused with the sound
Not knowing that you're in the wrong lane
Until you turn around

Trying to absorb what just happened
A sight you've never seen
Your windscreen cracked from a body
Which lies across your screen

Is taking someone's life away
Really worth the words you read
And however sorry you're now feeling
Won't help them when they're dead
