Skinless Apathetic

by Cantchangeme   Mar 19, 2020

What do you want from me
Tell me what it is you need
Do you hunger for my anguish
Or repentance for my greed

Well I’m all filled up with apathy
You will not live through my fear
I’ve said too little lived too long
And you’re boring me to tears

What is it you want to see
For me to kneel, beg and plead
I’ve seen the darklands once before
I have walked there and been freed

I am more than noise and death
I am more than greed and theft
You can’t take my soul from me
But you can have any skin that’s left

Great rhyming and strong emotion throughout. The title alludes to apathy but there is nothing apathetic about this poem. A most enjoyable read. Milly x
