For Granted

by nouriguess   Mar 20, 2020

I want to roll
in mud and smell
the trees, swim
in a crowded
pool, follow bugs
and kiss
my lover for
two hours
straight, and
pet all dogs, touch
everything, hug
everyone, shake
hands with
strangers, and
never ever
use antiseptics
again.

Yes to the petting dogs especially! But I loved the way this flowed, the innocence and wonder and dream-like quality it has... something that seems far away and unattainable now. Following bugs and not having to second guess going out in public. Living without knowing fear. Without worrying about each step we take, each touch, each decision we make from now on. Not knowing what life has in store for us but being at peace with it, instead of this waiting period where we just hope to taste that "freedom" soon.

It's so easy to take things for granted. Thank you for reminding us of the joy (and humility) in cherishing the simple moments.

You know, I'm an introvert, but I miss my freedom. I really should start appreciating being able to go outside and interact with people.
