Waiting Room

by Anna Banasiak   May 21, 2020

I got tangled
in time
I'm lost
in the chaos
of things postponed for later
thoughts are silent
life goes on too fast
in the compartments
I'm confused by the turn of things

death deletes tickets

searching for me
in the waiting room of life

I rushed to nominate this, and am so happy to see it's already nominated!

What kind of struck me, is that you made this poem relatable, and a commentary on life nowadays, but it didn't seem cliche. This line in particular: "death deletes tickets", with its own line break, was powerful.

When I think of waiting rooms, there is uncertainty, chaos, hesitation, a feeling of dread. No guarantees. And you captured all of those feelings in a few lines. Well done.

It’s a very strange time now for everyone, it’s like the world is standing still yet time is eating us. The ending lines are really powerful!!
