i smelled jasmines

by prasanna   May 26, 2020

as your voice spills into the room,
waking the silence from its gentle
repose – the body anchors itself
in place, adrenaline courses
through a manic heart
as the eyes dash around
plotting an escape route.

you're singing again.
you’re.
singing.
again.

i'm a child again. excitedly,
i turn around and gaze at you
through the lens of innocence,
as your melodious voice continues
to ooze honey on the ears. in this
moment, everything comes to a
full-stop, there is nothing else
but your song.
