If You Asked The Earth

by Walter   May 26, 2020

If I was a lion then I would growl
But I'd always be alert on the prowl

If I was an elephant, I'd have a long trunk
But it's obvious that I eat too much junk

If I was a bird then I would fly
But sleeping standing up would make me cry

If I was a monkey then I would climb
But I couldn't eat bananas all of the time

If I was a snake then I would slide
But then I would always have to hide

If I was a giraffe, I would stand tall
But I'd be someone you can't ignore

If I was a fish then I would swim
But always being wet would start to feel grim

If I was a sloth then I would be lazy
But doing this all day would just drive me crazy

I should be so happy that I am a human
The highest form of species since life first began

We think we're so refined on how we all live
But we always seem to take more than we give

If we asked an expert our own mother Earth
She would say humans have been a menace since birth

They populate, pollute and then poison the place
And cannot get by even with their own race

You know come to think of it all the animals above
All seem much better with how they show love

I think we all know from our inner voice
That any of these creatures seem a much better choice
