Rooted

by Skyfire   May 31, 2020

Throughout the years
they grew together
and wound their hearts
more closely
entwining them
like the roots of
two trees
so that when the
great storms came
and inevitably
branches broke
and leaves fell
the one wrapped around
the broken pieces of
the other -
and they lived, and breathed,
and grew again
becoming more
than they ever knew
they were.
