Leave It All Behind

by Walter   Jul 16, 2020

We heard it all before
How we don't have enough time
"I am just too busy
And this mountain I must climb"

Excuses often made
Work becomes priority
Ignoring social invites
And our friends we never see

At sometime we forgot
To finish work at five
We bring it home with us
And our evening is deprived

Loved ones become ignored
Because we're feeling stressed
Often we are too blind
To try and reassess

Dinner is not shared
And we eat in different rooms
Though hardly even touched
And our work we will resume

Patience becoming thin
Politeness isn't there
Seems everyone else is
To blame for our despair

Working late into the night
The only sound are keys
As we madly type away
Wishing that the time would freeze

Before you even know
It's now way past midnight
In only a few hours
Again it will be light

Just don't make this a habit
I'm sure that work can wait
And don't forget your loved ones
Before it becomes too late

When you walk into your home
Just leave the work behind
And your love for friends and family
Should be all that's on your mind
