Nine Years

by Penned Parodist   Jul 24, 2020

Nine years, gone in a blur
Too often you put up with a jerk
Love offers a steady purr
This length of time requires work

The path to the present can be difficult
A price to be paid for fond memories
When traveled well it becomes our catapult
This love still brings me to my knees

Something to be said for what we attained
Words not spoken carry more weight
More to be proud of what we have gained
Few have found a lifelong mate

Nine years gone by, Oh so great
Nine years and counting, I can’t wait
