Fading Footprints - Sonnet

by Walter   Dec 30, 2020

I follow my footprints, where we first met
And they stop in front of yours on the beach
So long ago but I'll never forget
It still feels like you're there within my reach

And more prints are formed as we will both turn
To watch the sunset blend into the night
A wish made with the first star that would burn
Then our prints walk side by side out of sight

I wait for you but you do not appear
So I follow our prints made from the start
Where ever I stop I know you are near
As your prints will always end in my heart

But when I look back, your prints start to fade
The ones I've left are the only ones made

    Hello Walter,

Like the famous prayer, i like this. It is not easy to transfer an idea, whether original or existing into a sonnet format. Well done.
