accretion

by prasanna   Dec 31, 2020

you liken us to ashen stars – charred by passion,
marred by the violence of a turbulent galaxy.
what may come of the once cinnamon in your
eyes is only second to the warmth you still radiate.

i liken us to a binary star system – tangoing with
one another from a safe distance to keep our
egos in check.

the truth lies squarely in the middle –
i'm a neutron star, steadily streaming
the little light i have to offer in an
accretion stream to you –

sometimes,
the self comes second.

Where did this avalanche of poetry come from? Not complaining though. Might be the best "disaster" of 2020.
