Lost Along The Way

by Walter   Jan 16, 2021

I went for a walk on my usual path
The one I'd always go with you
Though so much effort it seems to embark
I now only have half the view

Beautiful with nature and trees all around
Through the years we made our own track
I follow our footprints still left on the ground
But only wish that I could go back

You are no longer here by my side
As I walk into the unknown
And our footprints, no more they will guide
Now that I walk alone

I stop at the place, where we used to rest
The fallen log which became our seat
And it was here, my heart would invest
Where I first fell for you at our retreat

Now feeling barren and I can't ignore
My heart aches too much for me to stay
Though I've been here, so many times before
But now...just lost along the way
