Overthrown.

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 20, 2021

You leave me in ruins

and at the end of each
cadenza,
I'm left aching for your touch

your name,
deadly nightshade.

I'm staying
within the realm,
though you
coax me to the other side

but I know
there is nothing there.

You're a dark gulf
at the edge of my curiosity

and I'd rather know a
constant state of dread

then
know
nothing.

This reminded me a little (in content at least) of Frost's 'Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening'.
I always enjoy the musical footnotes you leave. In fact, I am off to listen to that piece this very instant!

Thanks so much, Ben! The song is from a Spanish drama on Netflix called "The Mess You Leave Behind". Probably never would have found the song if not for the show.
