Stranded

by Walter   Feb 26, 2021

I stand on the jetty end
As I watch, you transcend
I missed the boat, which you set sail
Now forced behind, the jetty's rail

You're standing still, but drift away
Nor I move, although you stray
Yet there is not, a single wave
Either from the sea, or that you gave

I watch you as you grow small
And too far now, to hear my call
Your destination is unknown
But also mine, now I'm alone

This island once, was paradise
Though now no longer, will entice
Feeling surrounded, by a moat
And no escape, without the boat

Yes, I know, I will survive
But no longer have, the urge to thrive
You have cut off, my life line
From here on, I'll just decline

Wake up with, no will to live
You hold it all, and yet not give
For me you have, set a trap
And we're distanced now, by this gap

Though this is not, a fairy tale
There is no boat, that just set sail
Or an island, which I am stuck
Nor a rail, that I can't duck

It's heartache that, takes the blame
In my room, where I'll remain
With life outside, my front door
But for now I'm on...a lonely shore
