He No Longer Lives Here

by Walter   Mar 20, 2021

An unopened letter, that you have sent
And already my mind, you start to torment
For weeks you were silent, from you I've not heard
Now suddenly a letter, that's filled with your words

I started accepting, that you have gone
Convincing my heart, it's time to move on
When you would ignore me, not one text received
Now torn between feeling, hurt or relieved

No return address, but your writing I know
The way that it's slanted, with loop forming flow
And I picture you as, you sit on your seat
Taking your time, to write it so neat

The letter in my hand, which I still hold
As if it's your fingers, I feel that it molds
The weight is too heavy, to be only ink
And with my eyes closed, I feel our hands link

But suddenly it's dropped and makes a thud
I can't read your letter, that's written in blood
The day that you left and our love denied
Can't be replaced with, what's written inside

In my handwriting, which you will know
Just a few words, that only will show
Return To Sender - He no longer lives here...
And although lost in transit, the message still clear
