Songbook Hearts

by M. Rene'   May 11, 2021

Songbook hearts warble nervously
there once was hope here, in a space
for coming together and celebrating
until one day nobody showed up
like the melody ran away with the
bluejays and nightingales came
into town instead. These lovely little
moments of chorus booming became
hymns immortalizing everything
we could have been - the map
faded in the desert sunlight and
we all seem to have lost our ways
back to the concert that never even
started. Wandering in an orchestra
of uncertainty and memory.

Another one from the Sabrina Benaim Workshop I mentioned. This one is sorta inspired by Phil Kaye and his writing style.
