Sleeping Dragons

by The Parrott King Jordan R. Stephens   May 21, 2021

There are pits
Deeper
than the human heart.

Some say they lie
Where the eye cannot see.
Where light cannot reach; some
The breadth of Baikal and
Twice as deep.

Two lovers fell where dragons sleep.
There they dwell,

Arguing over who pushed who. Pointing
Crooked fingers west until west bleeds black.

They missed the point.

They hope...
They hope one day
That sleep will come easily.
That rusted joints won’t wake them.
They hope...

Some hearts run
Deep secrets theirs to keep.

I hope you bleed red.
I hope you can sleep.
