The Shackled Life

by Marc Ortiz   Aug 11, 2021

My perception of life changed forever in that morning,
When I gazed outside the window from my train.
The sun was just waking up from its slumber,
And everyone outside was walking in the same direction.

It dawned to me that what if we are inside a simulation?
When did we become zombies in our everyday life?
We are driven by one thing; which is the desire to survive
by quenching our thirst and hunger in our life.

Everyday we are programmed to trade our time,
Just so we can make someone else rich.
Time is moving so fast and in a blink of an eye
We are fragile and old; too late to realise that we are a slave.

I am gradually turning into the walking undead,
My senses are slowly fading and I cannot see my purpose.
Will there ever be a cure to this disease?
Or are we eternally stuck in this reality?
