Halloween Erased

by cassie hughes   Oct 26, 2021

No one knew exactly who
had made the big decision,
The witches blamed the vampires
who denied they were involved.
Werewolves said that they had heard
The ghouls had an agenda,
But all the ghosts then shouted
that was not what they were told.

That night in graveyards solemn
bodies stayed beneath the earth,
No chains were heard to rattle,
Owls were silent in surprise.
Banshees all became struck dumb
the moon shone high and bright
to light the fact that nothing stirred,
No bats did fill the skies.

Then chaos ruled as through the land
spread fear and confusion,
Whilst unconstrained malevolence
leaked into every day.
Those fiends who lurked in shadows
now were free to roam at will,
No rules were there to hold them back
As they began to play.

Magic spells bounced here and there
and vampires fed at will,
Ghosts and ghouls scared folk to death
no one dared intervene,
The world became a dreadful place,
Its end was truly nigh,
And all because some prissy fool,
Had cancelled Halloween
