A Good Day

by Domenico Sottile   Dec 2, 2021

A Good Day

This morning I woke up to say
yesterday I had a good day
Just like a good
bright sunny day
in May

I did not dance
I did not sing
Just one of those days
you feel
you want to wink

Nothing really went my way
It was just a good day
I did not see
my grandchildren smile
running gratuitously my way
Neither did
my reverse psychology
get an apology

No special visits
No taste of spirits
No special meals
No special mail
Just a good day

Sometimes one needs
just a bare good day
and feeling to say
it was a good day

I love everything about this, that you can still experience a good day, even without being able to name something specific, or even doing nothing out of the ordinary that day. It's the feeling, the welcoming of the day, the purpose you feel in the moment, no matter how the day actually went. There's a spark of hope in this that fills the whole piece, well done!

      Dear Poet on the Piano:
Thank you for having absorbed the entire inspiration of the poem. The piano must have echoed all the notes on each line. I am so grateful!!
      Domenico
