Colours of the Moon

by Walter   Jan 8, 2022

The day seemed to start so bad
Another freezing day in June
Although now becoming often
The cold I'm not immune

Warmed up with a cup of coffee
Piled with a full spoon
And eating a hearty breakfast
To get me through to noon

Though that morning our paths crossed
Where both of us would swoon
Suddenly our direction changed
While we were lovesick loons

Shared a ride in our new ship
A colourful balloon
And we would fly so so high
Our love was finely tuned

But we crashed and impacted
It seemed to happen soon
While in bliss, we didn't miss
The face of the full moon

Damaged, our ship would puncture
Collapsing and all strewn
Looking like our love adventure
Now would all be all ruined

But true love knows, no barrier
When it is marooned
As long as we both believed
It always would cocoon

So powerful that this emotion
Has strength of a harpoon
And aimed us back straight to Earth
Without our balloon

Now having both gone through this
We each became attuned
That true love has its ups and downs
Not always opportune

But all it takes is commitment
Even when apolune
We signed our love with all its colours
While we were on the moon

Whenever we might have a doubt
Because we are consumed
Our colours shine and stay behind
When we thought we were doomed

Such a great poem. Vividly expressed without forcing it to rhyme. Loved it. :)
