Star-gatherer

by Obscure   Feb 10, 2022

I gather the stars in a basket
And bask in the flickering light
I carry them over the mountains
And into the darkness of night

Release them like fireflies floating
To watch as they swirl overhead
The clouds and the moon are my nightlight
While sea and the sand are my bed

I'll search for more stars in the morning
Collect them like they are gold coins
Then send them all back to the dark sky
And watch till the sun tries to join

This pattern I'll keep on repeating
The stars rise and fall from up high
And glimmering patterns appearing
Until I at last say goodbye
