An English Spring Morning

by Paul Hirst   Mar 21, 2022

Sun and Moon look eye to eye there is frost upon the fields
Goodday, Goodnight the planets yawn as night fades a sun lit dawn reveals, Mr Robin flits from branch to branch his song to others warns
As the fox looks from the woods and barks his coming home.
The farmer shakes his muddy boots and gently pats his dog as Mrs Fieldmouse blinks and scurries to the safety of her log.
Milk bottles rattle over cobbled lanes as the church tower strikes five bells , the fresh baked bread cooling since four a.m. gives pleasant yeasty smells
Schoolkids yawn and snuggle deeper in their cosy beds as the new day breaks the greens and browns bath in hues of red.
