The Burning of my Soul

by Glenn G   Apr 30, 2022

When I was a boy
I swam in our pool,
Played with my toys
Laid in sun
Enjoyed my fun,
Played ball
Enjoyed it all,
My mom and dad
Showered me with love,
Happiness consumed
My heart and all it's room,
Filling my soul
With love, making me whole.

When you and I met
Our bodies collided
The pressure created a spark
That spark became a flame
The flame soon became a fire
Our marriage was like opening a window
In a burning building
Giving the fire more oxygen
Consuming flames opened up
And whoosh
My soul was consumed
And all that is left
Is an empty shell of flesh
With no desire to move forward
