The Girl You Used To Be

by Walter   Aug 9, 2022

Time will cure, a broken heart
And slowly it will heal
As all my friends, reassure
To help through this ordeal

I know years, can't be erased
Within a single day
And heartstrings will, begin to tug
Wishing you would stay

Memories made, when we met
We knew we both belong
But later years, that we shared
Something went so wrong

And I know, we used to fight
At the very end
It just felt, inevitable
A breakup that impends

Without any, further thought
We did what we both pleased
We're not meant for, each other
Because we disagree

Time would pass, while alone
Still tugging at my heart
And all I think, is how we were
Right back at the start

We couldn't help, to fall in love
All moments that we'd share
Our passion was, so powerful
To this just can't compare

So maybe I might be blind
And no longer can I see
Because I'm still, in love with
The girl you used to be
