Take A Moment

I've finally reached the top
Of the mountain I would climb
It has taken many failures
And so much of my time

But I never gave up
And as long as I would move
Each day was an achievement
I didn't have to prove

It started as a race
Which has taken many years
Through pain and frustration
Heartache and the tears

But I would never stop
And left it all behind
As it would try to slow me
Which made me feel confined

Where I ignored the time
Because I didn't pause
I never once accepted
That I might have some flaws

But when standing at the top
It's now I realise
Although I've reached here first
I am not very wise

Sometimes it is the journey
And lessons we would learn
Sometimes we are reminded
And beg there to return

Because life becomes a lesson
With memories that are made
If we move past them too quickly
Then everyone would fade

So now I'm all alone
And I've learnt how much I lack
When life becomes your lesson
There is no turning back
