Convenient Lover

by Walter   Nov 26, 2022

She met him in a bar
On a night with all her friends
She gave him her phone number
For texts they often send

They would soon go out
This time now on their own
But soon she's having doubts
Because she feels alone

Her friends said not to worry
As love takes time to start
When you've been hurt before
There are traces in your heart

So she took their word
And decided she will try
To give love one more chance
Rather than just deny

Weeks soon turned to months
Then she moved in with him
His house is really grand
But she's still feeling dim

He has lots of money
Which she's allowed to spend
In front of him she would smile
Although she'd just pretend

A year would quickly pass
He told her to leave work
Her trade began to change
To a servant from desk clerk

All her friends would tell her
That she's hit a gold mine
But deep down in her heart
She knows it's not divine

Now spending days alone
While cleaning every floor
She hates what life's become
A never-ending chore

And feeling like she's owned
To make him feel content
So she gives him all he asks
Because he pays the rent
