Retrospect

It's something that you cannot change
But foresee it in your mind
So often that you'll visit there
And each time you're declined

There's no way you would have known
Or maybe won't believe
If someone were to tell you then
These words you don't receive

Though I'd wonder if you'd listen
When warned to not proceed
When once it was what you wanted
Which felt like such a need

Yes I know we make mistakes
And this is how we learn
But life seems to hinge on points
We wish we didn't turn

And all your left with is regret
When once too blind to see
When you can't see a happy future
Because of history
