The pain upon my heart

by Rowena Linley   Aug 20, 2025

The pain upon my heart was carved
A wound I never sought or starved
Many lessons life had taught
But none prepared me for this thought

Torn asunder
Like a ship pulled under
The weight of me is none at all
My mind’s the one that takes the fall

To be treated like a fleeting ghost
My mind suffers
It hurts the most
Never knowing who I am
A lesser soul
A hollow man

[Prechorus]
The mirror lies
It twists
It bends
The fight is endless
It never ends

Torn asunder
Like a ship pulled under
The weight of me is none at all
My mind’s the one that takes the fall

The hatred for myself
I wear
A crown of thorns
A cross to bear
I’ve never felt a hurt so rare
Yet still I rise
I still declare
