Moonlights Glow

by Walter   Sep 17, 2025

The moon I see no longer glows
Caught in its light once where we froze
With our first kiss, it lit the way
A path we walked and wouldn't stray

But sometimes storms appeared high
And blocked the moonlight from the sky
The path we walked, no longer clear
With new directions, we'd both steer

I called to you, but echoes heard
Your name returned, the only word
My feet crisscrossed on barren ground
With direction lost, just going round

And even when the sun would rise
You never appeared before my eyes
The moon I saw now can't compete
To light again a path or street

Illusions like the love we shared
This light can't shine, our love declared
The path it made was in our hearts
But vanishes when we depart

Now in the night, we disappear
I'd never know if you were near
Our hearts, the only map we know
But only lit by moonlight's glow...

Beautiful, however sad. The longing echoes throughout this wonderfully.
