If only I could temper my wild flame Pour cold water Play the game Build a fortress high and strong But walls can’t block a whispering breeze It sneaks through cracks with quiet ease And I wonder if I’ve been wrong Brick by brick I’m stacking high To keep the world from seeing why I’ve got scars I don’t want to show But kindness isn’t weakness No Brick by brick the hurt might fade A castle in the mess I’ve made But behind these walls I’ve come to know Kindness isn’t weakness No Where people take my heart for gold Then twist it till it’s bruised and cold I’ve learned to smile through the sting But kindness isn’t meant to break It’s not a gift that others take It’s the song my soul will always sing
