Dare to Look

by Alleycat   Sep 27, 2025

I can feel my breaking point about to snap,
Walls closing in like I’m caught in a trap.
Darkness takes root with its seed buried deep,
Unwanted thoughts continue to seep.

“You are worthless, unlovable, shoved to the side.”
No one around to hear all the tears I’ve cried.
“You could disappear, leave no trace, nothing to find.
No one would notice — they’re all too blind.”

The sorrow and pain laid open, laid bare,
Yet not a single soul seemed left to care.
Discarded and struggling, alone in the lull,
Haunting thoughts gnawing away at my skull.

Midnight is coming, so vast and so bleak,
Throat swelling with words I can no longer speak.
Choked with emotion, my heart left raw —
If only for a moment, you could see what they saw.

They see you, they love you, they adore who you are.
If you’re searching for comfort, you needn’t look far.
Beauty can live in the blackest of nights,
If only you dare to look toward the lights.

A star may be hidden, unseen by the eye —
But billions still burn, eternal in the sky.
So lift up your gaze when the shadows surround,
The light you’ve been seeking is waiting — it’s found.
