Rumination

by Lioness   Jan 13, 2026

Somehow, when the lights fade, and the sun disappears into the horizon, darkness overcomes me.

The hidden shadows watch me beneath my windowsill, waiting for my eyes to slumber with my mind, but the ruminating thoughts in my head won’t let me sleep.

I lay awake at night, trying to exhale my fears, worries, and the thoughts of your betrayal.

But I fail, not only in your eyes, but my own, because I seem to love you better than I love myself.

And that isn’t always a good thing.
