When We Share A Journey

That's the way we started
Passengers on a train
Strangers to each other
But our journey was the same

Conversations soon would follow
Taking in the views
Rolling through the countryside
On this path that we’ll choose

Stopping at a station
With introductions made
We learnt our destination
Was still so far away

We both had one-way tickets
Never to return
This slice of life we started
Despite the many turns

It's like we both had brushes
And painting with our hands
All the gorgeous scenery
Through this flowing land

And love shares such a journey
On paths that we decide
The tracks are still beneath us
Although they choose to hide

Powered by an engine
It doesn't run on steam
Because this seems to slow us
If we shout and scream

True love is so powerful
And can take us anywhere
It can climb the highest mountain
To go where we both dare

As long as we don't forget
Our hearts will lay the track
Because love needs strong foundations
Without which, it will lack

Where we are bound to fail
And true love is denied
If the tracks that are beneath us
One day will both divide

Our imaginary train
Is bound to slow and rest
But foundations love is building
Still go north, south, east or west
