Truth be told

by Guilty By Design   Jun 10, 2026

The truth is,
you lied.
You broke vows,
broke trust,
broke the life we spent years building.
And when it was over,
I signed the papers.
Not because I stopped loving you.
Because I finally started loving myself.
That’s the part people don’t understand.
Love wasn’t the problem.
I loved you before the lies.
I loved you through the lies.
Hell, I loved you after I knew the truth.
But love isn’t permission.
Love isn’t a free pass.
Love isn’t me setting myself on fire
to keep you warm.
So yes,
I still love you.
And no,
I won’t come back.
Those two things can exist
in the same breath.
I can wish you well
without wishing you were mine.
I can carry the love
and leave the damage.
That’s not weakness.
That’s knowing the difference
between loving someone
and choosing them.
